Home-Start Sutton is an independent charity affiliated to Home-Start UK.
Since 1984 Home-Start Sutton has been supporting local families who are facing some of life’s toughest challenges. Our experienced staff and trained volunteers provide support and encouragement, enabling parents and carers to grow to be the parents or carer they want to be.
WHAT WE DO?
Home-Start Sutton offers a range of support services along with practical and emotional guidance to families who are facing loneliness, hardship, or parenting challenges.
Volunteering is at the heart of Home-Start Sutton.
Home-Start Sutton works because our volunteers understand how hard it can be to a parent or carer.
They work alongside families and our staff team to create a nurturing, enabling environment where children can thrive and parents and families feel connected to their local community and each other.

GROUP SUPPORT
Circle Of Security Parents Course
Home Visitor Service
We offer supportive mentoring for families with children under five who live in the borough and may be experiencing stress or isolation. Our trained parent volunteers provide weekly, one-to-one support for the whole family, helping to build confidence, reduce isolation, and strengthen family wellbeing. All volunteers are professionally supervised.
Nurturing Parent Programme
The Nurturing Parent Programme is an 11-week parenting course for parents of children under five. The course supports parents to better understand and respond to their children’s needs, use positive discipline, manage challenging behaviour, cope with stress, and recognise the importance of nurturing both themselves and their children.
Circle of Security Parenting (COSP)
Delivered in partnership with Sutton Children’s Centres, this 8-week parenting course focuses on attachment and the relationship between parent and child. Circle of Security helps parents understand their child’s emotional needs and develop secure, nurturing relationships that support healthy development.
Family Support Group at Tweeddale Children’s Centre
This weekly group in Carshalton is for parents and children under five who may feel isolated. Families can meet others, share experiences, and build supportive connections in a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment.
Tea and Tots Family Support Group – Central Sutton
A weekly group in Sutton for parents and children under five who are feeling isolated. Tea and Tots offers a friendly, supportive space to meet other families, enjoy time together, and build confidence in a safe and nurturing setting.
The Pod
The Pod is a drop-in support group for families living in temporary or insecure accommodation. It offers a welcoming space for families to connect, receive support, and access guidance in a relaxed and understanding environment.
Project Rebuild
We support families with at least one child under five who are worried about their housing or struggling financially. Our aim is to help you stay in your home and avoid homelessness by offering early, practical support before problems become a crisis.
OUR TRUSTEES
Home-Start Sutton is managed by a board of volunteer trustees.
Our trustees serve on the governing board and are responsible for directing the management and administration of the charity.
They have a wide range of duties and are responsible for making the charity effective, providing overall direction and maintaining sound management of funds.

Fran Boto (Chair)
I am a registered nurse and health visitor now working part-time with disabled children and their families and in a pre-school supporting children with additional needs. I have a passion for equality and inclusion and intend to bring this to the Board of Trustees. I have experience of chairing multi-agency meetings and have chaired another charitable organisation. My involvement with HomeStart Sutton goes back to being a referrer, then a trustee for 19 years and in the last two years I have been privileged to be be a family volunteer.

Anton Tavernier-Gustave
I have worked in Public Health for the past 15 years within the Local Authority, NHS, and Charity sector. My current role involves managing services and supporting the growth and development of new and existing programmes. I have significant experience working across London and Kent and is passionate about supporting people to lead a healthy lifestyle. For most of my career I have been working with people who are affected by mental health and have worked on nationally recognised programmes. I also enjoy playing a variety of sports (Football, Tennis) and I enjoy travelling and exploring new places.
Jenisan Kulendiran
I became involved with Home-Start Sutton having learnt of the great work that they do across the borough. Having grown up and gone to school in Sutton, I feel very passionately about Home-Start, having seen the evidence of the many positive outcomes that occur with families needing support through difficult times.
My professional background is in corporate finance and supporting public sector organisations with this and it’s great to be able to apply some of those skills to support my local community.
As a trustee and treasurer for Home-Start, I work with my fellow trustees and staff helping to ensure that the organisation continues to operate effectively and deliver benefit to the many families requiring our help in ever increasing numbers.
